With classes suitable from birth through to crawling our aim is to support you and your baby through those vital early 1001 days as a family, and enhance your family bonding experience and your baby's development. Each class has been developed to suit the baby's needs at different developmental stages, and to support you through things like colic, teething and connecting with your baby. We understand the importance of nurturing the parents too; helping you find your confidence, support and friendship. Because parenting really does require a village.

It's not just us here either; we like to work in collaboration with other local providers too including Twinkle Tots Sensory and more.

I don't cope well in the heat and have to admit on days like this I'd prefer to be by a beach on Cornwall or at my Water Babies job. (Being submerged in 33° water is totally different to 33° air temp!!)

This is my favourite thing to see on a booking form. Not only do I love seeing families return to my classes and to meet their newest additions; but it reminds me I'm doing something right!

As an independent business, I'm not governed by a franchise, and I depend on my fabulous network of peers in the industry for support. But at the end of the day, how I choose to add value to my classes is up to me, and when I see a family coming back to relearn a skill I can't help but do a little dance because they see value in my classes.

🌕 Sturgeon Full Moon 🌕

I personally love a full moon and a bit of moonbathing. My husband is so aware of this that last night when he came to bed, he opened the curtains so the moon was shining on my feet. A few hours later, I woke up to the moonlight on my face and our littlest joining me in bed for a cuddle 💕

I'm not sure if she has been supercharged or something because, omg... she is wild today 🤪 She has been nonstop since she woke up and showing no signs of slowing down!!

😖 Let's Hear Your Unsolicited Parenting Advice 😖

I've heard a lot over the last week from other parents, especially as it's the school holidays and suddenly every stranger at the shops has an opinion 😏

Over my 9 years as a parent, with a rather rowdy toddler and a ND child, I receive a LOT of "advice" from others and have found myself often nodding my head and walking away.

The one that has stuck with me the most, though, was probably one of the first things I remember from a midwife when my eldest was born. She told me...

"I wouldn't spend too much effort on breastfeeding, because of your birth experience you're likely to fail"

Well.... no-one, not even me, gets to tell me I'll fail at something, so what did I do?
I breastfed my daughter! Through PND, through intense pain, through raynauds; for nearly two years. And then I did it again with my youngest!

So, it's your turn now.

✨️ It's Cleaning Day! ✨️

Everything gets cleaned after use is classes, but at the start of our summer break, I like to give everything a deep clean.

This is always one of my favourite views in the summer; all the fabrics on the line making the garden super colourful 🌈

All the plastic and silicone toys (for my @waterbabies kit, too) are soaking in the bath before they have a scrub.

The soft toys are in the washing machine, ready to go on the line next.

The wooden and metal toys have had a wipe down with milton and airing in the shade.

Each term our Massage & Movement and Move & Stretch classes have a theme week; as well as fun theme related baby massage and baby yoga we have a creative element. From sensory bottles, to teeny plant pots the creations alternate between something for baby and something for you.

This term, to tie in with our Teddy Bears Picnic, we made keepsake bears. Inside each bear are two ribbons; one the length of baby bear and one the length on mumma or dadda bear. We even had one special keepsake with a third ribbon to represent a growing bear inside mumma's belly 🥰

💜 It's Not JUST Baby Massage... It's SO Much More 🩵

Yes, baby massage is beautiful, but our classes are so much more than that.

💜 It's creating a loving, nurturing bond with your baby; learning to really read them and develop a trusting relationship. Feeling the oxytocin and endorphins flow will benefit both you and your baby, making you both feel great.

🩵 It's meeting other parents in the same stage of parenthood as you, who are dealing with similar challenges, who don't judge you and are also looking for friendship and support. Our classes are intentionally small to allow you time and opportunity for connection, and we've seen lifelong friendships form.

💜 It's forcing you to stop and take some time to slow down. Forget about the mental load and enjoy an hour devoted to you and your baby. Enjoy a cuppa (while it's warm), have someone else do things for you, and make the most of moments created for you to just breathe and be.

🩵 It's having access to an ongoing network of support and friendship. Whether from your classmates or our instructors, you will receive nothing but support and advice if you want it. Each class has its own WhatsApp chat, there's our Facebook group just for our families, and our instructors are always at the other end of the phone.

💜 It's open conversations and guidance to help you find your confidence as a parent. Each class sees parents become less anxious about coping with the roller coaster that is parenthood, particularly in the earlier days when you're fuelled by caffeine and snacks. We see parents helping each other and then seeing how well they are doing. Adapting to change and really understanding your child helps you to feel more able to parent how you want to parent.

🥪 August Summer Picnics ARE BACK!🧃

As usual through August, I will be taking a break from teaching classes to spend time with my family.

BUT I know how lonely August can be for new mums when all their regular classes have stopped, so our informal picnics will be back. Giving you some valuable adult conversation (between pushing swings, eating, etc!) and time for connection.

No need to book, I'll be there with my daughters regardless, just turn up with a blanket and some lunch. Whether you stay for 5 minutes or stick around for longer, it would be great to see you.

Familiar and new faces are all welcome; bumps, babies, toddlers, and siblings!

Parenting is hard, there's no doubt about it!
But self-care is so important!!

Taking just 5 minutes for a bit of you time, to breathe and focus on yourself, can do a whole world of good to your body and brain.

In class we sometimes do a guided relaxation, but with the babies there, it can be hard to focus. So, I recently recorded one for the parents in class, but then felt this needed to be shared with other parents too.

🪷 Sensory Toys and Exploration 🪷

Each week in all our classes, we provide sensory toys for babies to hold, mouth, and explore while we do our masaage and/or baby yoga.

Here is this weeks setup for Baby Massage & Movement, featuring some firm favourites and some new glitter balls, which I'm very excited about. I couldn't help but create a colourful rainbow mandala with them.

They're not for display, though. I always encourage parents and babies to get stuck in and explore... and for our crawlers in Baby Move & Stretch, it lasts all of about 5 seconds!

Did you know the babies' nervous systems thrive when they explore a variety of sensory layers. By stimulating all 8 sense (yes 8!) your baby will develop a better understanding of the world around them.

Holding a toy can also help them regulate and self soothe while we explore the massage and yoga moves.

✨️ Baby Massage & Movement Theme Week Activity - Summer Pat Mats ✨️

During each term of our Baby Massage & Movement class, we have a theme week where everything is centred around a particular theme.... and it includes a creative element!

This week was Summer Theme week, and it included making a pat mat for the babies.

We do all the complicated parts out, so you don't have to, and you go home with a simple yet wonderful creation for your baby or you.

These pat mats are great for keeping babies entertained all the way from a few months old to toddlers. They stay cool, they make a great sound, they're fab for tummy time and core control, and trust me when I say the parents find them just as entertaining too!!

Our new term starts next week, and our theme week is a Teddy Bears Picnic, with an all new creation/keepsake to take home.

This year the big question is; Who holds the baby?

Infant mental health is an often overlooked and misunderstood subject. Infant Mental Health Awareness Week provides an annual opportunity to discuss the importance of supporting babies’ mental health and wellbeing.

Not everyone bonds easily with their baby. Parents who are overwhelmed by trauma, or struggling with mental or physical health difficulties, need support.

Research shows a growing number of parent-infant relationship teams. But in many areas, help is still not available.

Baby and Parent classes are a great way to support infant mental health, particularly in the early days. But how?

1. Strengthening the Parent-Infant Bond - classes like baby massage supports a secure attachment relationship and are filled with oxytocin and love.

🦷 Teething Tactics Workshops 🦷

We had a lovely morning at @tinkerstayandplay today delivering a Teething Tactics Workshop. As usual, I was too busy cahtting and totally forgot to take any photos, so here is a slice of their delicious cake! (It's sooooo good 😋)

It was a lovely informal event where those who wanted to could talk to me about all things teething, and there were loads of great questions. During the second half, there was an opportunity to design and make a silicone bead necklaces to take home, these are great for grown-ups to wear and little ones to nibble on or fiddle with during feeding.

The silicone bead necklaces are not exclusively for babies to chew on either, they are great for SEN children like my daughter too.

Fab annual camping trip with the NCT gang 🥰

⭐️ Future Plans ⭐️

Oooooohh there are so many!!! I wish I could tell you them all straight away.

Mainly, though, we will be working more with others, and with the assistance of funding, we will be able to provide more monthly events and some regular free support.

We are also actively seeking a new home. A space where we can create our own little parenting haven. And, once we find what we're looking for, then lots of things will be able to gain the momentum they are waiting for.

We have been listening to the wants and needs of parents attending our classes, and our aim is to provide!
